Project Overview

We have been working with FUTUN from Zurich since the futun.ch website. For their new format, the SCHWEIZER TAGE, FUTUN needed a site of its own: a “Kompetenzresort” for business-owning families - four modules of 33 hours each at the Guarda Val above Lenzerheide, in a small group of just over ten families and several generations together.

The starting point was a typographic PDF design by Sanna Schiffler: a red surface with a circle into which a mountain peak rises as you scroll, followed by calm rows of text that open with [+] brackets. Our job was to implement the design precisely and build it so that FUTUN can maintain all content on its own.

We built the first version as an Astro prototype within a few days, to align layout and scroll choreography with the designer and the client early on. For FUTUN’s day-to-day editing we then moved the site to WordPress - with 15 custom Elementor widgets that carry over design and animation one to one. The site was finished three weeks after we were commissioned; the review rounds with design and client happened right in the system.

Challenges

01

A design without compromises

Font sizes, line grid and spacing came from the PDF and had to match in the browser to the pixel - at every screen width.

02

Motion as part of the design

The peak rises into the circle as you scroll, the red surface fades out, header and mountain photo stay pinned. All of it has to run smoothly on an iPhone too.

03

Editable without a developer

FUTUN wanted to change texts, modules, speakers, prices and colours on their own - without breaking the layout.

04

Bookings straight into the CRM

Requests with several participants, module choice and room type had to arrive in Salesforce without detours.

Technology Highlights

Prototype first, then WordPress

The Astro prototype made design and motion tangible within days. The WordPress widgets take styles, scripts and choreography straight from it, and the layout was measured automatically against the PDF design.

One colour drives everything

Date bar, opened rows, form fields and bars derive their tints from a few global colours. One value turns red into magenta, and every module gets its own pastel colour from the FUTUN identity.

Straight into Salesforce

Every request is validated on the server and arrives in Salesforce automatically, where confirmation and follow-up communication happen.

Designed for mobile

Dedicated portrait crops for hero and gallery, a fold-out dot menu and a hero whose scroll distance follows the photo height - so there’s no red gap on phones.

What Makes the Project

SCHWEIZER TAGE shows that WordPress doesn’t have to look like a template. What made the difference was the collaboration:

  • • Design and code hand in hand: review rounds with Sanna Schiffler and FUTUN ran in short loops on a preview environment
  • • The best of both worlds: a fast prototype for alignment, a familiar CMS for everyday work
  • • Freedom with guard rails: FUTUN changes content, colours and spacing themselves while the grid stays intact
  • • A returning client: fonts and legal texts build on futun.ch
